Hello Again!

Hello! Decided to come back to this blog. I've been meaning to do so for a long time, but haven't been taking the quality of photos I wanted to be taking with my new Nikon D5100. So bear with me til I get used to the camera!
Here are three edits of a sunset I wanted to play with using an HDR editor. Since I used some local toning in the processing of the source photos, I'm sure that's why the end result wasn't quite what it should be.
Either way, what do you think?

While I was away I sure took a lot of photos. Were they all pro shots? No. In fact a lot where just regular so-so stuff you'd take on a mediocre vacation. :-\
Now, did I get some pretty decent shots? Yeah, though some styles are a bit repetitive, like food and plants, haha. But that makes sense since I was working on a farm (CSA).
Did I manage to get a few amazing shots? You bet I did! Most are macro, but that's okay - it's what my camera is best at.
I hope in the future to borrow a few various cameras that some of my friends have (Rebel XT, Mid-class Nikon, etc) to take some varying shots, like better portraits for example. I will, though, have to ask the people I take photos of if I can post the end products. lol.

How has everyone else been? Busy? Hopefully plenty of photos? Please do tell!
I hope to be adding photos soon, though. Maybe even some unedited stuff, as I plan to go back where I was working in a short while - however I will have access then to some editing power. XD Slow upload time, unfortunately. :-\

This is a silhouette photo of my sister in a jacket looking towards a sunset.There really isn't much to it other than that I told her to look thataway and spread out her arms as shown. I like that pose. :-)

Celebrating 50 posts!

This here is my 51st post, so I'm going to write it celebrating my last entry "Trees" being my 50th! ;-D

I probably could/should post more often, but it seems editing my pics in batches is the easiest.

In other news, it is possible that I'll be gone for up to a month at a time in the upcoming seasons, so I'm notifying you that I will not be able to post at those times, and I do not know how many pictures I would be able to take.

Photo Summary of my Week

Digital Film (Possible Technology?)



RE-35 Digital-film

I saw an article about a piece of new tech recently that would turn film cameras into digital ones (which is pretty cool).

I have a Konica-Minolta that I could use it in too, but as I was reading into the article and the comments I found out that it was something a company put out as an April Fool's prank, and never intended for actual production.

Here's a bit of the article below and the message from the "inventor" of the technology:

"For photographers who are attached to their analog equipment but can no longer resist the pull of the digital age, RE35 proposes a solution: a digital cartridge that fits into any 35mm camera and connects to your computer via USB.
"The RE-35 cartridge, in place of film, has a pull-out “sensor” that captures the images and saves them to flash memory within the cartridge. When plugged in to a computer, the cartridge charges and transfers images with built-in software."

All in all it sounds like a pretty cool piece of equipment, but here is what the producer had to say about it:

"Thankyou for your enquiry about Re35.
Some good news:
The feedback to our "product" has truly been overwhelming. It seems Re-35 really addresses a need and people worldwide can't seem to wait to get their hands on our "product".
The bad news:
Some things are to good to be true!
Re35 does not really exist. We (the design company Rogge & Pott) created Re35 as an exercise in identity-design. We invented the "product" because it was something that we had wished for for a long time (as many others).
We launched the website and sent out "press releases" on April first - thinking, that the date would make clear, that Re35 is just wishful thinking - a classic April Fools Prank!
However:
All this attention Re35 ist getting might actually be good for something. It proves, that there is a gigantic community of photographers with analog equipment out there that is desperately waiting for a product like this to come along.
We hope there are no hard feelings
and that you are not too disappointed.

Clean Lens

Hey all. What's the best way to clean your camera lens of a dried-on waterspot without scratching the lens? I really need to know! I took some shots yesterday but some of them have this big 'ole spot on 'em that ruin it. :-(

Polls (forgot one)

So far the polls (which have only been up for a few days, lol) show that at least 2 people would like to see a post here about once a week. ;-)
Unfortunately, I forgot to add the most likely time, lol, which is "Once Every Two Weeks". So I re-did the poll. :-\
I may post some things once a week if I get a lot of feedback, otherwise probably just once every two weeks untill I run out of pictures, lol, so if you want to see more, provide feedback!
